Join us at 7:00 pm for an evening with Emily St. John Mandel, author of Station Eleven.
Emily is the author of four novels, most recently Station Eleven– which was a finalist for a National Book Award and the PEN/Faulkner Award, and won the 2015 Arthur C. Clarke Award, the Toronto Book Award, and the Morning News Tournament of Books, and has been translated into 27 languages. Emily will be interviewed by journalist Ethan Gilsdorf on topics such as her inspiration for Station Eleven and her writing career.
Ethan Gilsdorf is a journalist, memoirist, essayist, critic, poet, teacher, and performer. Based in Providence, Rhode Island, Gilsdorf covers the arts (with a focus on books and film); pop, gaming and geek culture; and media and technology, for the New York Times, Boston Globe, Boston Globe Magazine, Boston Magazine, Wired, Salon, Psychology Today, and WBUR’s The Artery. He has interviewed notable cultural figures such as Sir Ben Kingsley, John Cleese, Cheryl Strayed, Junot Diaz, Amy Poehler, Viggo Mortensen, William Shatner, Sister Helen Prejean, Jason Segel, Stan Lee, Guillermo del Toro, George Romero, Jon Favreau, Steve Carell, Wil Wheaton, Nick Hornby, Andy Serkis, and Seth Rogen, among others.
