NEA Big Read Kick-off Event and Scylla – The Ugly Truth Revealed Opening Reception
Sat., Sept. 12, 2020; 2:00pm or 3:00pm
Attleboro Arts Museum, 86 Park St., Attleboro
(Exhibit will be available for viewing during normal museum hours from Fri., Sept 11 through Fri., Sept 18)
During 2020 Attleboro will be reading Circe by Madeline Miller. Inspired by the novel, the Museum will mount “Scylla – The Ugly Truth Revealed,” an exhibition of original art in a range of mediums and sizes from a team of visual artists. Each artist will be charged with creating their interpretation of a six-headed, particularly ravenous monster. These creatures will be designed to spark reflections and conversations that address emotional and behavioral “monsters” that can lurk within individuals. The monsters on view may – or may not – have six heads and twelve legs, but they will be persistent, powerful and require taming.
Space is limited, reserve your spot for one of the opening viewings by Sept. 11th by calling 508-222-2644 or emailing firstname.lastname@example.org. Visit the museum website at attleboroartsmuseum.org for more information and to view the virtual exhibit online.
